Jacquie Davis is regularly called upon by the media to comment on matters related to acts of terrorism, security and personal safety.

From conversations about the decision by HRH Prince Harry to step away from public life and relinquish his state-provided Royal Protection security detail, to her thoughts about the BBC’s hit drama Bodyguard; comparing it to the role of real-life close protection officers. Jacquie has also been invited to comment on acts of domestic and international terrorism, including the 2017 and 2019 London Bridge/Borough Market knife attacks, the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing and, in 2015, the active shooter incident at the offices of Charlie Hebdo in Paris.

Having presented her own ‘Stay Safe. Be Aware.’ masterclasses in personal safety for over two decades, Jacquie Davis was also called upon to provide advice about the March 2021 kidnap, rape and murder of Sarah Everard in South London, by a serving Met Police officer who falsely arrested her. The ensuing public debate that emerged about women’s safety on the UK’s streets and how to make individuals feel safe was highly controversial.

Released in 2019, Close is Netflix’s adrenaline-pumped action thriller written and directed by Vicky Jewson (Born of War) and starring Noomi Rapace (Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) as tough-as-nails counter-terrorist expert turned close protection officer, Sam Carlson.
 
After saving the lives of a pair of journalists from a jihadi ambush in the Middle East, Rapace’s character Carlson — inspired by the world’s top real-life female bodyguard, Jacquie Davis — is assigned to protect Zoe, a spoilt and troubled rich girl (Sophie Nélisse) at odds with her scheming stepmother (Indira Varma) after her mining tycoon father dies.
 
Having become the sole heiress to his Morocco-based firm, Zoe’s life is put in danger when she becomes a likely kidnap and ransom target; forcing her and bodyguard Carlson to go on the run while they find out who is behind the abduction attempt. It’s brutal and exciting, and is yet another example that action movies can be female-driven and captivating.
